Riva del Garda

For our weekend adventure, we went to the town of Riva del Garda, which is on the north end of Lago di Garda.  It's a fun beach town that, as it turns out, is one of many windsurfing "capitals of the world."  The windsurfers were certainly out in full-force today.

It was a really pretty drive through the mountains to get to the lake, although with the influx of vacationers we sat in traffic for a little while.

Good thing we had such nice scenery to look at while we waited.

After walking along the lake for a while and bemoaning the fact that we hadn't brought swimsuits, we set out on the real purpose of the trip - finding some good climbing.  This quest led us up an awesome one-lane yet two-way road.

Donovan found some decent climbing, but I was more interested in the view.

The locale was gorgeous and Donovan is already planning our next trip out there (during which we'll actually go climbing, not just look at the rock).

On the way home, we stopped at a wine/cheese/fruit/meat shop for some refreshments and to add on to our wine collection, which is now up to 5-1/2 bottles (5 by the time I'm done with this).

We also got a basket of fresh cherries, which was gone by the time we got home.

So yummy!

  1. Uber fantastico pics. It's like being on one og those bus tours where the driver takes us to all the incredible vistas!
