Ciao everyone! Just wanted to pop in and give a little update on how leave is going. We've spent the last few days at home in Vicenza, relaxing and not accomplishing much of anything. It's been a much needed break though. Sleeping in, taking the time to try new recipes, and going on runs in the gorgeous spring weather that finally arrived (okay fine, it's mostly Donovan going on runs).
But, as lovely as this has been, it's time for some more adventures. So...tomorrow we're off for a couple days in Barcelona. This will be our second time there, but we had so much fun the first time we have to go back. After we fill up on tapas and sangria, we're headed to Paris for a whole week of museums, shopping, and picnics under the Eiffel Tower. From Paris, we spend a couple days in Brussels and Bruges, and then a couple days in Amsterdam before finally heading home. Whew...it's going to be epic. And exhausting.
I'll do my best to share a picture or two as often as I can while we're traveling!

Zermatt: The Matterhorn
Our second day of skiing, we rode the gondola above the clouds and enjoyed a beautiful, clear day right next to the Matterhorn. We were fortunate to have an entire day of sunshine, a rare opportunity since the Matterhorn is typically blanketed in clouds.

Hello from Zermatt
We're kicking off Donovan's month of leave with a week in the beautiful town of Zermatt, Switzerland. So far we've been enjoying some spring skiing around the base of the Matterhorn, strolling through the village, and relaxing in our swanky hotel suite. Pictures of the Matterhorn coming soon (if the clouds clear up).

Easter
We had a quiet Easter celebration at home, with a couple friends joining us for dinner. Spring has been attempting to make an appearance the last couple weeks, and despite a long string of rainy days, Easter Sunday was bright and sunny.

Weekend Wine Tasting
One of the many fabulous perks of living in Italy is the abundance of local wineries to visit. A week ago, we joined a group of friends at a local organic winery for a tasting and lunch. The wines were accompanied with delicious bruschettas, pasta, and a strawberry tart. Just another day of enjoying life in Italy!

Cortina Ski Trip
For our first long weekend following Donovan's return, we headed several hours north to the little town of Cortina d'Ampezzo for a couple days of skiing and spectacular mountain views. It was a weekend of fun times with good friends, delicious food, and lots of powder.
